Frankly Benjamin is a seven-piece indie rock band based out of Brooklyn. The band is getting ready to release their debut EP, To Be Frank, on April 1st, and today we have the great joy of bringing you the EP’s first single. “Old Friend” is a beautifully, energetic, and extremely enthralling piece. Caitlin Cook‘s poignant and captivating voice leads the way with her story that certainly we can all relate with. Behind her there’s an incredibly tight band – it can be awfully deceiving listening to it and learn that is coming out from a band that’s releasing their debut EP – that carefully crafted a sound that’s rich in details, layered and multi-dimensional, and a band well aware of notions of space and time. You can stream the song and read what Caitlin has to say about it below.
“I wrote “Old Friend” after meeting up with an old friend and realizing we just had nothing in common anymore. We’d both really changed as people and just couldn’t relate on the same level that we used to. Funnily enough, I ended up reconnecting with another old friend Wyatt Stone (vocals, electric guitar) just before I wrote this song. However, We were able to pick up right where we left off and later form a band together and make this EP. Just goes to show you that sometimes people drift apart and sometimes they come back together in the coolest ways,” explains vocalist/guitarist Caitlin Cook.
