2016 – The Year In Review With Eleanor-Cara Churchill and Aeris Houlihan Of Chambers

We’ve asked bands/artists to share with us their highs and lows of 2016 and what they hope the New Year will bring to them. Here’s the year in review with Eleanor-Cara Churchill and Aeris Houlihan Of Chambers.

On a scale of 1-10, how was 2016 been for you?
It’s been a good year for us overall. Until we’re invited to your house for tea we won’t be fully satisfied.

Have you learned any life lessons this year?
Having your own van for touring is easier than relying on taxis and just keep swimming, swimming, swimming.

What was the highlight of 2016 for you?
Working with the guys from I’m Not From London Records has been wonderful and being played on Radio 1’s Huw Stephens show has been great too.

Any low points?
We thought we had a near death experience on tour once. What was cute was the fact that we thought “if we go, it’s not as bad if we go together.”

What was the most overhyped thing of 2016?
Pokemon go! It’s dangerous too! People walking off cliffs and walking into walls.

Worst of 2016?
Donald Trump becoming president of the U.S

Best of 2016?
Sister Doom was born!

Best albums of the 2016?
Slaves – Take Control
Kate Tempest – Let Them Eat Chaos
Kendrick Lamar – Untitled Unmastered.
Suuns – Hold/Still
Preoccupations – Preoccupations
No Nothings – No Nothings.

Worst albums of the 2016?
We don’t listen to music that we don’t like, it goes straight off! What we can tell you is that we dislike bands that have egos, which usually follows along with bad music. They hold hands like sweaty lovers.

Any new year’s resolution for 2017?
Keep space in our lives for our creativity.

Further music and tour dates TBA. // “Hostile” was released on December 2nd on I’m Not From London Records.
