Today, we have the pleasure to bring the premiere of Heavy Ocean‘s powerful self-titled debut album (out today).
Heavy Ocean push listeners as much as they do themselves but with the immediacy and charm, they’ve created something that is easily enjoyable. Although influenced by bands like Russian Circles, Bossk and Deftones, they try to add their own signature to the post-metal genre.

Ricardo Vasconcelos (guitarist) explains the theme of the album: “When we first got together to play music, we didn’t had any plans on ever recording. It was only after we had the first couple of songs that we thought that there was something there.
Usually, the way we write is, I bring a riff or several of them, and see what Tiago can add, if it comes out naturally, the rest of the song pretty much writes itself and then we just need to rearrange the parts to find the right narrative. The weird thing with these songs was that I only realized that there was kind of a theme when we had already finished four of them. Each one reminded me of where I was, mentally, when we were writing and subconsciously the whole record ended up being inspired by grief.”
