Louisiana-born, Portland-based singer- songwriter Kyle Craft is back with his second studio effort entitled Full Circle Nightmare, a true journey through the history of rock’n’roll, from the charming party atmosphere of Jerry Lee Lewis to Bob Dylan’s signature poetic folk. Featuring solid and well-written songs, Craft manages to evoke the past while still being able to sound relevant today.
The production by Chris Funk (The Decemberists) is clear without being overly polished, capturing the passion of every note played and every word sang. The record is essentially autobiographical, according to the man himself, and shows a talented musician really coming into his own as a composer and storyteller. It might not be groundbreaking, but it has catchy tunes and genuine emotion; do we really need more?
