Many Rooms, aka 22 year-old musician Brianna Hunt, recently announced her debut full length, There Is A Presence Here, (due out April 13th via Other People Records) and now she has shared the album’s second single “Hollow Body“.
“Hollow Body” gently rises from a minimal piano line and Hunt’s expressive vocals, carrying the track into a spellbinding conclusion that references Nine Inch Nails’ “Hurt,” by way of Johnny Cash’s classic cover. Many Rooms’ ability to draw stunning dynamics from stark instrumentation is on full display as the track’s unconventional structure wraps around the listener, drawing them into the atmosphere of Hunt’s dreamscape. Stereogum praised the track and album saying “It’s a testament to Hunt’s arresting presence as a songwriter and composer that she can make such sparse songs sound so full, and There Is A Presence Here is the sort of album that makes a lasting impact.”
Listen to “Hollow Body” below:
The cinematic ambience of Many Rooms’ music works hand-in-hand with Hunt’s impactful lyricism. Chronicling a period of intense personal upheaval, There Is A Presence Here follows Hunt as she looks for meaning in life’s most vulnerable moments. From depression and anxiety to questions of faith and existence, the album is a of document fragile times that finds strength in the search for solace.
