Puppy – The Goat

Puppy - The Goat (Spinefarm)

Combining 90’s influences, London-based trio Puppy are bringing something old that somehow sounds new to the scene. Somewhere between Helmet’s alternative metal, Pavement’s twisted indie rock, Weezer’s elegant sound and Black Sabbath-style riffing, Puppy are one of the most exciting newcomers in the current UK rock scene. With an unconventional vocal style, melodic hooks and bludgeoning riffs, Puppy sounds like nothing else out there: their youthful approach is not concerned with any kind of music trends, everything sounds fucking organic, and there are hypnotic rhythms and a thrilling minimalist experimentation. Puppy’s debut album shows a striking consistence and it’s fair to say that they carefully worked-out the multifaceted patterns of their unconventional sound.
