Gloria de Oliveira is a German-Brazilian multidisciplinary artist, musician and filmmaker, currently based in Hamburg.
Today, we’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Gloria de Oliveira‘s stunning new video for “Dark Rider” (watch below), the third single release of the Lua Azul EP (Blue Moon in her native Portuguese), a Dark Wave/Synth Pop confection, created in collaboration with the electronic music producer Spampoets.
For the track’s music video, De Oliveira, who studies Fine Art at HFBK Hamburg, was inspired by European b-movies from the 1970s and their softly creepy sensuality: Jean Rollin, the Czech New Wave film Valerie and Her Week Of Wonders and the German arthouse vampire film Jonathan, among others.

“I had the idea for this music video while me and Spampoets, who I collaborated with on the track, were in the mixing stage.”
I was listening to an early version through my headphones and suddenly the story unfolded before my inner eye. The entire thing just appeared all at once – the whole plot and the characters.
As for the look, I was inspired by certain European b-movies from the 1970s and their soft and hazy yet at the same time creepy (and oftentimes deadly) sensuality, such as the Czech New Wave film VALERIE AND HER WEEK OF WONDERS, the German arthouse vampire film JONATHAN and of course Jean Rollin’s many tales of vampire girls!
I’m lucky to have found my collaborators for this – Sebastian Ganschow, the DoP, and Anna Degenhard, the costume designer, fortunately both understood really well what kind of vibe I was going for, and helped me bring this vision to life. I am also so grateful to Jakob Fliess and Benjamin Teske, the two lead actors – I didn’t even have to spell anything out to them about the twisted narrative I wanted to put them in and they truly gave it their all (despite the shoot being quite gruelling due to the weather and the location), as did all the actresses who portray my angelic witch coven.” – Gloria de Oliveira comments the new video.
