We’ve asked bands/artists to share with us their highs and lows of 2016 and what they hope the New Year will bring to them. Here’s the year in review with Joe Tal of Textures.
On a scale of 1-10, how has 2016 been for you?
8.5 – that’s really good by the way!
Have you learned any life lessons this year?
Nothing new, but it’s always good to be reminded that good organisation and well thought out planning is EVERYTHING!
What was the highlight of 2016 for you?
Personally, playing at Brutal Assault festival in the Czech Republic and Be Prog My Friend festival in Barcelona, Spain.
Any low points for you?
Not really, a period during when we don`t play many shows in is always challenging, or in other words, “Get me back on the road I wanna play but there are no shows!”
What was the most overhyped thing of 2016?
We released a new album this year – ‘Phenotype’ (Nuclear Blast) and it was received very well, it`s very exciting! It wasn’t overhyped though.. it was well worth the hype.
Worst of 2016?
A few months ago we were on the way to play a show in Munich. On the way there we received the news that some idiot has shot a bunch of people in a shopping mall (in Munich)…Not a pleasant feeling… But we still played the show.
Best of 2016?
It was a great year, all of it!
Best albums of 2016?
Opeth – Sorceress
Obscura – Akroasis
Revocation – Great Is Our Sin
Worst albums of 2016?
I didn’t hear anything I really didn’t like!
Any new year’s resolution for 2017?
Like every year: Get in shape, lose weight.
Phenotype by Textures is out now via Nuclear Blast.
