2016 – The Year In Review With Shaun Hood Of The Van T’s

We’ve asked bands/artists to share with us their highs and lows of 2016 and what they hope the New Year will bring to them. Here’s the year in review with Shaun Hood of The Van T’s.

On a scale of 1-10, how has 2016 been for you?
7.5

Have you learned any life lessons this year?
The importance of keeping yourself occupied during long van journeys!

What was the highlight of 2016 for you?
Releasing the E.P is the obvious one but in terms of gig highlights, I’d say playing Twisterella festival in Middlesbrough followed by a midnight set at Tenement Trail was definitely a good one! Also got our first experience playing the ABC main stage which we won’t be forgetting about in a hurry!

Any low points for you?
There always is, plenty of good to balance it out though!

What was the most overhyped thing of 2016?
That silly Pokemon game, I’ve yet to have a shot mind you!

Worst of 2016?
Public Elections!

Best of 2016?
Scottish music!

Best albums of 2016?
Can’t speak for the rest of the band but I’d put the twelve albums that Omar Rodriguez-Lopez has released in the past six months up as my choices! That and Atrocity Exhibition by Danny Brown.

Worst albums of 2016?
There have been one or two disappointments but I’d rather not name names!

Any new year’s resolution for 2017?
Out do 2016!
