2016 – The Year In Review With Steve Brodsky of Mutoid Man

We’ve asked bands/artists to share with us their highs and lows of 2016 and what they hope the New Year will bring to them. Here’s the year in review with Steve Brodsky (vocals, guitar) of Mutoid Man.

On a scale of 1-10, how was 2016 been for you?
Let’s go with a high 7, thanks to music allowing me opportunities to escape other forms of reality.

Have you learned any life lessons this year?
Be wise about directing your energy because the universe has an imagination.

What was the highlight of 2016 for you?
Going to dinner with one of my biggest crushes.

Any low points for you?
Not kissing one of my biggest crushes after we had gone to dinner.

What was the most overhyped thing of 2016?
The return of Guns ‘n Roses. Where’s Izzy?

Worst of 2016?
Harpo’s in Detroit. My first experience, hopefully the last. Smell of mold and piss everywhere. Convenience store across the street offering money for unlocked iPhones. Blood stain on the concrete outside where a bouncer was shot and killed.

Best of 2016?
Converge: Blood Moon.

Best albums of the 2016?
Neurosis “Fires Within Fires”.

Worst albums of the 2016?
Bon Iver. They lost the plot.

Any new year’s resolution for 2017?
Treat others as if it were me living another life.
