Kari Jahnsen – aka Farao – brings on her latest release the perfect combination of minimalist pop with R&B and disco tunes. From her Soviet Disco love to a very refreshing approach on synthpop, Farao makes her most personal experiences into an incredible mixture of sounds and tones.
Lyrics-wise, she explores desire, possession, sex and relationships, but on the other hand, her music is dreamy and danceable, which is overall a great constrast on the record. There’s also a cinematic touch on her music, and her love for film is clear as she cites David Lynch’s Wild at Heart as inspiration for lead single “Lula Loves You”. Pure-O is an interesting and quite cohesive record that you will fall in love with.
