Winner of the 2015 Sundance Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award, Me And Earl And The Dying Girl is not the typical teen movie, is deeply compelling and totally cliche-averse. Alfonso Gomez-Rejon movie is what we may call boy meets girl and girl is dying of cancer, and I already know what you’re thinking: Oh no, another Fault In Our Stars? Wrong! Me And Earl And The Dying Girl is more 50/50 meets Short Term 12, is funny and depressive at the same time, but it’s going further regarding new levels of emotion. This is not the typical teen movie, a true indie gem that is incisively and entertainingly intelligent. Alfonso Gomez-Rejon raised the bar with this movie, let’s see what he will do next.
