Núria Graham shares new single, “Yes It’s Me, The Goldfish!”

Today Núria Graham has shared a new single and announced that she will be joining forces with iconic label Verve Forecast and New Deal, the label adventure of Blake Mills, in collaboration with Primavera Labels and Universal Music, marking a big step for the Catalan artist.

Yes It’s Me, The Goldfish!” is the first glimpse at Núria Graham’s forthcoming new album, Cyclamen – more details of which will be announced soon. The album was produced by Núria herself, full of dreamy and subtle orchestral arrangements and “Yes It’s Me, The Goldfish!” represents the first character of the various narrators of Cyclamen – a journey through existential questions, dialogues with nature, dreams and premonitory visions. The bluesy piano and a rusty classical guitar give way to pensive drums, building to a melodic explosion of sax and flutes. The song tells the story of a goldfish that swims inside a fish tank, looking at the future through the glass and anticipating what’s coming. Finally the goldfish realises that it can get all the answers it has been looking for within the space around it.

The visual universe of “Yes It’s Me, The Goldfish!” perfectly accompanies Nuria’s musical vision. The cover is painted over a black and white photograph by Ingrid Ferrer, one of many experiments in which Ingrid and Núria have collaborated for this record. The visual accompaniment, also in black and white, filmed on 16mm film, was recorded on a rainy afternoon in a river in rural Catalonia. It was directed by Marc Cuscó, and then painted by Marc, Núria and Ingrid in the studio, frame by frame with experimental painting techniques. It is a humble approach to filmmakers like Istiaga or Brakhage.
