It’s been a sensational year for Norway’s Sløtface, who recently released their acclaimed debut album Try Not To Freak Out via Propeller Recordings/Nettwerk. After a busy summer, which saw the band’s first headlining tour in Australia, a slew of European festival runs, and UK dates supporting Los Campesinos! and The Cribs, the band has brought their epic punk chops and behemoth pop exuberance back to the states for a handful of North American dates which wrap up in Philadelphia and NYC this week.
The “Nancy Drew” video continues in Sløtface’s fiery feminist footsteps, reimagining the track’s teen detective namesake as a badass superhero crushing the idea of the patriarchy with one punch.
“We wanted to put the Nancy Drew character from the lyrics of the song into life. In the song (and video), Nancy Drew is a superhero fighting against the patriarchy and at the same time being super cool. We hope that people watching the video gets inspired by Nancy to fight for equality.” shares bassist Lasse Lokøy.
Illustrator Ida Neverdahl explains, “It is difficult being a girl in our world full of weird stuff. The video is a story about the tools used to keep girls down, but also how you can use evil powers for good.”
