Ryan Scott Graham’s side project, Speak Low If You Speak Love, is quite the departure from his role in the incredibly successful pop-punk group State Champs, but it is an absolute revelation into Ryan’s ingenuity as a musician and multi-instrumentalist. His second album Nearsighted, as Speak Low If You Speak Love, transcends genres intertwining electro, acoustic, emo, indie and a little of everything in between. Songs such as “Contrasting Colors,” “Safety Net,” and “Cannot Have It All” are emotionally laden standouts. Overall, Nearsighted is the kind of album you must take the time to truly listen to enjoy every layer and facet, musically and lyrically.
