John Carpenter X Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross: Listen to 12″ of “Halloween” remix (to be released Oct 26th via Sacred Bones)

With John Carpenter currently on tour in the UK, Sacred Bones are set to release the soundtrack for the new David Gordon Green directed Halloween film this Friday, October 19th.

To coincide with the release, the label have announced an impending physical release of Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ 2017 version of the iconic “Halloween” theme, due for release on 12″ vinyl on October 26th.

Upon its digital release last year Reznor stated: “I clearly remember my friends and I at 13 years old conning our parents into letting us see Halloween when it came out in 1978. We left the theater forever changed. We were damaged and scarred, with the shit genuinely scared out of us and that theme stuck firmly in our heads. John Carpenter, it’s your fault that I turned out the way I did.

Reznor & Ross’ recorded their homage to one of horror’s greatest anthems from scratch and it got the seal of approval from the man himself. John Carpenter reacted to their recording saying: “Moody and dark, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ version of HALLOWEEN does amazing justice to the original. I’m impressed.”
